J-K: PDP's Yasir Reshi boycotts swearing-in of winners of MLC elections over differences with BJP

According to sources, when the swearing-in ceremony of all elected members of the legislative council was taking place, PDP leader Yasir Reshi did not turn up and even other party leaders and ministers boycotted the event over differences with BJP.

Differences have erupted between the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the recent MLC elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This was evident today when MLC and PDP leader Yasir Reshi did not turn up for his oath-taking ceremony at the council chairman's office.

According to sources, when the swearing-in ceremony of all elected members of the legislative council was taking place, PDP leader Yasir Reshi did not turn up and even other party leaders and ministers boycotted the event.

Yasir Reshi, a PDP MLC from Bandipora area of Kashmir Valley, was recently elected unopposed.

BJP, NATIONAL CONFERENCE MLCs TOOK OATH OF OFFICE

While the newly-elected BJP and National Conference MLCs took the oath of office, Yaser Reshi did not come for the swearing-in.

It may be recalled that during MLC elections last week, PDP lost one seat as Independent MLA Rizvi voted in favour of BJP candidate Vikram Randhawa, who won the seat defeating PDP candidate.

Sources say PDP has already protested before the BJP leadership that the latter have ditched them in MLC elections, showing a breach of trust between the alliance partners. It was to protest against this BJP behaviour that PDP did not sent Yasir Reshi for oath-taking ceremony.
