The announcement of the election scheduled for the vacant Panchayats and urban local bodies by the Jammu and Kashmir state election commission has put the valley’s mainstream parties in a quandary. The eight-phase polls will begin on November 20 and this is going to be a big test for the Gupkar lobby. A key meeting which was chaired by Farooq Abdullah at the residence earlier today. The Gupkar gang is said to have their first meeting today. Leaders from the six political parties and members of the society will also take part in the meeting. During the meeting, they will make a decision on whether they are going to take part in the district development council.
