ISRO espionage case: Supreme Court has ordered CBI to investigate Nambi Narayanan's case

The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered a CBI inquiry into the involvement of Kerala police officers in the wrongful conviction of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan in the 1994 ISRO espionage case. The SC characterized the situation as 'extremely serious,' adding that a CBI investigation is needed. A bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar accepted the report of a three-member panel led by former SC judge Justice (retd) DK Jain and requested the acting CBI director to take charge of the case. The court ordered the CBI to consider the Justice Jain panel's report as a preliminary inquiry report and conduct a further investigation into the matter.
