Eelco Schattorie is on the verge of completing what his predecessors at NorthEast United could not do in four seasons - take the Highlanders to the playoffs. With two games to go, NorthEast United only need a win to amass 30 points, a point more than what fifth-placed Jamshedpur can achieve in total.
High on confidence, NorthEast United come into this game on the back of beating fellow top-four hopeful Mumbai City 2-0 away from home. Also, Schattorie's quest for a left-footed defender came to an end when 30-year-old Colombian Janeiler Rivas replaced the injured Mislav Komorski in the squad.
Rowllin Borges' newfound role as an aggressor in midfield has helped the team in the attacking third. He has ably supported playmaker Federico Gallego and club top-scorer Bartholomew Ogbeche. With the introduction of the new foreigner in the lineup, names like Panagiotis Triadis and Juan Mascia will only make the bench stronger.
Pune City at the moment are enjoying their most fruitful run since the club's inception. Five games unbeaten with four victories, the Stallions thrashed Jamshedpur 4-1 on the road and now come to the foothills of the Himalayas in hopes of ending their season on a high.
Phil Brown has managed ship well after the Arjun Kapoor co-owned outfit floundered in the first half of the season. Players like Robin Singh and Ashique Kuruniyan have found their stride impeccably, with the former East Bengal striker managing three goals in the last two games.
The focus will also be on Jonathan Vila, who might replace the suspended Marcelinho. Centre-back Martin Diaz will also hope to spoil the party for his former employers as he makes a return to his old stomping ground.
