GAME PREVIEW

FC Pune City and Chennaiyin FC have not been able to win a single game this season and the pair are languishing at the bottom of the table.

Monday’s fixture at the Balewadi Sports complex can be the one that changes fortunes for one of these teams and provide a psychological edge for the upcoming battles.

FC Pune City have been in terrible form and head coach Miguel Angel Portugal was given the sack after three games.

Pradyum Reddy has been the caretaker ever since and the team has shown promise higher up the pitch in the past two games.

After an impressive attacking performance against FC Goa, Reddy will be looking at Emiliano Alfaro and Marcelinho to provide the edge against a struggling Chennai defence. However, against Kerala Blasters, they lacked a cutting edge and could score only one goal.

The defending champions have lost five of their six games and drawn one against a pallid Delhi side.

John Gregory’s tactical changes including Inigo Calderon at central defence and winger Francesco Fernando at right-back hasn’t particularly worked out as the defence continues to look fragile.

However, Chennaiyin have circulated possession well and created chances but the frontline has fired blanks.

Chennaiyin’s defence needs to stand tall and deny the Stallions, should them have any hopes of climbing up the table. Also, it’s high time Jeje Lalpekhlua lives up to his reputation.

Expect wholesale changes from John Gregory's team for this fixture.
