GAME PREVIEW

Chennaiyin FC have evaded a loss in only one of the five matches they have played so far, making this the worst possible start any team has had in the history of the ISL at this stage. Their only point has come from a drab 0-0 draw against minnows Delhi Dynamos before they went down 2-1 against ATK in their last outing.

Head coach John Gregory, who has been bold in his approach this season, will look to repair his side's defensive lapses which have more often than not negated the efforts of the team otherwise.

Usually known to be a defensively solid outfit, the number of goals they conceded has already hit double figures (10). Missing a good defensive midfielder as Dhanpal Ganesh who is out with an injury, Gregory has tried deploying Inigo Calderon in his place. However, that ploy failed and Anirudh Thapa has looked off colour.

Carlos Salom, who scored against ATK, has been preferred to an off-colour Jeje Lalpekhlua of late. Meanwhile, wingers Thoi Singh and Isaac Vanmalsawma are beginning to show some promise for the strike force.

Mumbai City FC Delhi Dynamos ISL 5 10272018

A week after recovering from the 5-0 drubbing against FC Goa with a convincing 2-0 win over Delhi Dynamos, Jorge Costa will want his side to build on the momentum and to find some breathing space from the mid-table cluster. Mumbai City FC currently have seven points from five games.

Arnold Issoko and Moudou Sougou were at the top of their game against Delhi on Saturday as the duo bagged the goals, although the Portuguese coach wouldn't be completely satisfied given the opportunities they had but he wouldn't complain with regard to the efforts made.

Lucian Goian was much more alert at the back alongside skipper Subhasish Bose. Rafael Bastos also put in a much-improved display apart from shooting wide from the penalty spot.

Goalkeeper Ravi Kumar, too, made a case for himself in the absence of Amrinder Singh with at least two definite saves to keep a clean sheet. Costa will also look at his options from the bench as players like Matias Mirabaje, Pranjal Bhumij and Sanju Pradhan are capable of making positive impacts.

Another test of resolve awaits the defending champions who are still winless this season. Will Mumbai City FC pile further misery on them or can Chennaiyin FC change their fortunes around?
