FC Goa vs Pune City ISL 2018-19

ATK, who are seventh on the ISL standings, take on bottom-placed FC Pune City in a seventh-round clash in Kolkata.

The two-time ISL champions suffered their third home defeat last week when they went down 2-1 to Bengaluru FC. The Kolkata outfit have only managed to muster seven points from their six outings.

Steve Coppell’s side are yet to find their rhythm in the tournament and have been inconsistent.  Their star-studded attack force which consists of players like Manuel Lanzarote, Kalu Uche and Balwant Singh are yet to fire on all cylinders.

Like any other Coppell’s team, ATK have not been flamboyant in the attacking third but unlike some of the other teams he has managed in India, they have failed to keep a clean sheet this season.

Kalu Uche’s fitness remains a concern as the Nigerian forward was substituted in the first half against Bengaluru FC due to an injury. ATK do not have a like for like replacement and that would certainly have Coppell worried.

ATK will be eyeing a win against a vulnerable Pune side who are yet to taste victory in ISL season five.

FC Pune City got off to the worst possible start to their ISL campaign this time. The Stallions have lost four out of their first six matches. After opted to part ways with Miguel Angel Portugal after three matches, Pune’s form hasn’t improved. In fact, defensively they have only further regressed.

Deemed as title favourites before the start of the season, Pune have miserably failed to live up to the expectations. The Orange and Purple brigade have conceded 15 goals in six matches and have only scored six.

Interestingly, Pune enjoy a fantastic record against ATK. The two teams have met eight times in ISL out of which Pune have won five and lost just once. They would hope that they can continue their dominance over ATK this season as well.

Although interim coach Pradhyum Reddy will be without the services of Diego Carlos and Marcelinho, who are suspended.
