Washington, Dec 14: Islamic State or ISIS threatened to carry out a terror spree in the United States in retaliation for President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Several social media accounts of the ISIS carried out a message that the terrorist organisation will hit back at the US for Trump’s Jerusalem move. On December 6, Trump announced the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and his intention of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In a message on one of ISIS accounts on the Telegram instant messaging service titled “Wait for us” and “ISIS in Manhattan”, the terror outfit said it would carry out operations. The message also contains images of New York’s Times Square and what appeared to be an explosive bomb belt and detonator, reported Reuters.

“We will do more ops in your land, until the final hour and we will burn you with the flames of war which you started in Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Syria and Afghan. Just you wait,” the ISIS said. “The recognition of your dog ‘Trump’ (sic) Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will make us recognize explosives as the capital of your country,” read the message.

Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital decision was met with global dismay, drawing criticism from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia and more. Western allies of the US such as Britain, Germany, Canada and France refused to side with Washington. China and Russia too expressed displeasure. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the decision, calling it “an important step towards peace”.

A majority of countries in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) also rejected the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
