Ishrat Encounter verdict: 3 accused Gujarat cops exonerated; Gujarat govt declines prosecution sanctions

A Special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court in Ahmedabad discharged 3 cops accused in the extra-judicial killing of Ishrat Jahan & Jishan Johar, Amjad Ali Akbar Ali Rana, Javed Shaikh in 2004 that happened in Gujarat. Three cops, including Tarun Barot (now retired), GS Singhal Anaju Chaudhary were discharged by the court and the Judge, in that case, passed the order when CBI informed the court that the BJP Government in Gujarat declined prosecution sanction against the three accused. NCP leader Majeed Menon said, 'Learned judge said there is no evidence to suggest Ishrat Jahan is not a terrorist. This is strange because I don't think an accused person who is subject to law has to satisfy the court that he is not a terrorist.' The CBI court judgement is nothing but a reaffirmation of what I've been telling since 2009: R. V. S. Mani, Former Bureaucrat over CBI court discharging 3 accused in Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
