The Indian Premier League has taken cricket to new heights. No score seems impossible anymore. The League has seen fascinating and talented strikers lift their bats and helmets to the sky, hitting some of the fastest centuries in IPL history. The 2021 edition of the most popular T20 cricket league will kick off on April 09 in Chennai. Here’s a list of the top-5 fastest centuries ever recorded in IPL history.

AB de Villiers - 2016 - 43 deliveries

The RCB batsman AB de Villers made 129 runs in only 43 balls. The century was dotted with 12 sixes and ten fours. M. Chinnaswamy Stadium watched as de Villiers brought down Gujarat Lions with an astonishing strike rate of over 248.

Adam Gilchrist - 2008 - 42 deliveries

As part of the Deccan Chargers, Gilchrist scored a ton in only 42 deliveries against the Mumbai Indians at DY Patil Stadium. He scored 109 runs, inclusive of 10 sixes and nine fours. The Australian veteran is known to be one of the most destructive batsmen of his time. DC chased a total of 155, and Gilchrist’s century guided them to victory.

David Miller - 2013 - 38 deliveries

South Africa’s Miller scored one of the fastest centuries against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IS Bindra Stadium. He scored 101 runs in only 38 balls. His team KXIP chased a score of 191 in 18 overs and won by six wickets. Better known as ‘Killer Miller’, he had a fantastic strike-rate of 265 with eight fours and seven sixes.

Yusuf Pathan - 2010 - 37 deliveries

Yusuf Pathan has been one of the most impressive players for Rajasthan Royals. He scored the fastest century ever against Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium. He hit 11 consecutive boundaries, eight sixes, and nine fours, to reach his century in only 37 balls. The all-rounder, however, could not see his team to victory and lost the match by five runs, chasing a score of 214 runs.

Chris Gayle - 2013 - 30 deliveries

Chris Gayle holds the record of the fastest IPL century. The 'Universe Boss' achieved the feat in just 30 deliveries. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gayle scored 175 runs in only 66 balls against Pune Warriors at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. His innings included 17 sixes and 13 fours at a strike rate of over 266.

The IPL tournaments are studded with glitz, glamour, and controversies. But no talent goes unnoticed. The strikers give their best on the pitch for the sake of their passion. The above five batsmen have made history by scoring the fastest hundreds in IPL.
