IPL 2019: SRH vs DC - 3 reasons why Delhi Capitals are favorites to win the match

Kanav Agarwal

Delhi will be looking to make their home ground a fortress this season.

Delhi Capitals will host Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 16th match of the Indian Premier League. Both teams are coming from two contrasting results to their side. Hyderabad are coming to Delhi after an absolutely stunning match. They had both their openers score centuries and win the game for them. whereas the Capitals fell to one of the most disturbing collapses ever in the league.

Shreyas Iyer's side had allowed their last 7 wickets to fall for just 9 runs and will be looking to come back strongly in this match. Last season saw Hyderabad win both their encounters against Delhi. However, with a change in its name and approach, Delhi have been a completely new side and will be looking to beat Hyderabad in their backyard.

Here are 3 reasons why Delhi Capitals are favorites to win the match:

#3 Excellent bowling in the form of Rabada and Co.

Rabada has been in terrific form this season

While there is no denying that Warner and Bairstow were more than brilliant in the last match they played, we cannot discount the fact that the centuries that they hit were against a below-par bowling attack. RCB had a 16-year old debutant bowling to them who went for 56 runs in the four overs that he bowled. Umesh Yadav and Colin de Grandhomme have been out of form and went for 11.75 runs and 16 runs respectively for every over that they bowled.

Delhi, meanwhile, boasts of a very strong bowling lineup. There have experience in the form of Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma. Also, they have an excellent death bowler in the form of Kagiso Rabada, who even defended 10 runs in a super over this season. Delhi is also equipped with the likes of Sandeep Lamichhane who is extremely hard to read and Chris Morris and Harshal Patel have been more than handy with their economical and wicket taking bowling.

It will not be easy for the Orange Army to take on Rabada and Co. and with early wickets in the game, Delhi will be able to run through the batting line up of Hyderabad and win their third game of the season.

#2. In-form batting in the form of Shaw, Dhawan, Pant, and Ingram

The local lad would want to repeat his performance against SRH from 2018

Delhi's top order is one which most bowlers do not want to bowl to. They have been above par this season and the skill that they have is unmatched. Prithvi Shaw made a huge statement in the last game Delhi played at the Kotla when he slammed 99 while chasing to get his team across the line.

Shikhar Dhawan has beautifully played the role of an anchor for his team and he has batted for long durations to ensure his team stays out of trouble. Shreyas Iyer has been getting the starts but he hasn't been able to convert them into big scores but he will be looking to get a big score in this match. Colin Ingram has played beautifully for Delhi this season and has ended his team's search for a reliable No.5.

Apart from these batsmen, the one player who is going to be the difference between the two sides is Rishabh Pant. The last time these two sides met, he slammed an unbeaten 128 off just 63 balls to notch the highest score by an Indian in the IPL. He has been in tremendous form this season too, and he scored a 27 ball 78 in the first match of the season to make a statement of what he was going to do this tournament.

With such a powerhouse of batting in the team, Delhi will be able to chase down any target set and if batting first, they will surely put up a huge score- something that their bowlers will defend with ease.

#1 Home ground advantage

Delhi

Barring Chennai Super Kings, if there is one team who has excellent crowd support in their backyard, it is the Delhi Capitals. They have won countless matches in this ground and they know the conditions and the pitch of this ground like no other team.

It is a very small ground and Delhi's playing XI will be decided keeping that factor in mind. Also, the players have fond memories of playing in this ground. Prithvi Shaw slammed 99 in the last match and fell agonizingly short of his century. Rishabh Pant had also smashed his highest score in this ground itself and the local support and home conditions will be the biggest factor that will make Delhi unbeatable in the match.

Hyderabad aren't known to adapt to other conditions so easily and we saw that in the match against Kolkata.

With these conditions and players and Hyderabad's bowlers, especially Bhuvneshwar Kumar, looking woefully out of form, Delhi would back themselves to win this match and enter the ground as favorites.
