Steve Smith played a captain’s knock as his Rising Pune Supergiant team began on a winning note by beating Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets on Thursday.

Smith scored 84 runs taking 54 balls. His score included 7 fours and 3 sixes which helped him win the man of the match award.

Smith was dropped at 36 and he went on to win the match for his team.

Smith has six 30+ scores in eight innings against Mumbai Indians and all of them have come in victories.

Steven Smith’s average during the Powerplay in the IPL is the highest at 167. In 17 innings, Smith has been dismissed just once in the first six overs.

Smith rattled Kieron Pollard with his powerful hitting. He scored 25 runs off 7 balls bowled by him.

Speaking after the match, Smith said, “Pune is a nice place to bat on. One of those wickets where he had to time the ball.”

“You make the most of your form whichever format you play”, he added.
