Rising Pune Supergiant launched their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign with a thrilling seven wickets victory against Mumbai Indians on the second day of the IPL 10 on Thursday. With this victory, Pune Supergiant took two full points and occupied the second position in the IPL points table.
The IPL completed its one decade of long journey this season. Over the years, IPL has become a money spinner for BCCI and most famous franchise based Twenty 20 tournament in the world. All overseas players want to play in IPL as it offers a lucrative deal to the players and a valuable experience of playing in India.
IPL, usually, features eight teams. This season defending champion Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gujarat Lions (GL), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS), Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) took part in the league. In the opening game, Sunrisers Hyderabad launched their campaign with a comprehensive 35 runs victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Now, at the end of day two, all fans will look at the points table to know who top the points table of 2017 IPL.

In the last season, Gujarat Lions topped the points table but succumbed to a semi-final defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
This season, each team will play 14 matches. After the end of the league stage, top four teams in the points table will advance to the play off. Top two teams will face other. Winning team will qualify for the final while the losing team has to play the eliminator 2. The third and fourth placed teams will play the eliminator 1. The winner will meet the loser of first play off. The winner of the eliminator 2 will play the final against the winner of first play off. Meanwhile, each team will win two points in wining a match. In case of a tied match winner of Super Over will take full two points. But, if rain or any other weather conditions spoil the match points will be divided between the participating teams. Net Run Rate will be taken into consideration if two or more teams end up the same number of points at the end of the league phase.
