IPL 2017: Kolkata Knight Riders’ Chris Lynn registers his fastest IPL fifty against Gujarat Lions

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Chris Lynn registered his fastest Indian Premier League (IPL) fifty against Gujarat Lions at Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium in Rajkot on Friday. With this fifty he has become the joint 19 balls fifty scorer for KKR with Andre Russell. The West indies all-rounder achieved the feat against Kings XI Punjab in 2015 IPL.

The Australian batsman took 19 balls to register his fastest IPL fifty. He achieved the feat during KKR’s record 184 runs chase against Gujarat Lions. The Kolkata side won the match by 10 wickets.

Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir and Lynn won their opening match of IPL 10 with a record 184 runs opening partnership. This was the highest opening partnership by any team in IPL. Lynn and Gambhir broke the previous best 167 which was moulded by Tillakaratne Dilshan and Chris Gayle for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gambhir and Lynn have also become the second highest partnership builder in IPL after Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers’ 229 against Gujarat Lions in Bengaluru. 19 balls fifty also achieved by Owais Shah, Robin Uthappa, and David Millers. Meanwhile, KKR’s Yousuf Pathan scored the fastest fifty of IPL in 2014. He took 15 balls to achieve the feat.  The second fastest fifty was scored by Suresh Raina. Raina had taken 16 balls to score his fastest fifty.

The record of third fastest was held by four batsmen. The 17 balls fifty was scored by Chris Gayle, Adam Gilchrist, Chris Morris and Kieron Pollard.
