Interpol's Red Corner Notice to be issued against Mamta Kulkarni soon
Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, who has been accused of running an international drug cartel with her husband Vicky Goswami, will soon be on Interpol's wanted list.
Thane police have completed all procedures. All that remains to be done is the attachment of her properties.
After that, details will be shared with the CBI, and the process of issuing Red Corner Notices against Kulkarni and Goswami will be initiated.
"There is a lot of evidence against Kulkarni and Goswami in the case. Some of the accused have recorded their confession(s) where they have admitted to have met Kulkarni and Goswami while discussing drug deals worth crores. She was to be made director of the company named Avon Lifesciences which was one of the units used to manufacture ephedrine," Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray said.
Kulkarni's properties in Mumbai's Versova have been sealed, and the process of attaching them has almost been completed.
Kulkarni and Goswami were declared proclaimed offenders earlier this year, and a non bailable warrant was issued against them.
Goswami was arrested by the US Drug Enforcement Authority in February
RAID ON SOLAPUR FACTORY
The Thane police had nabbed a African national who was into drug peddling. During the interrogation, he revealed there was a factory in Solapur where ephedrine was manufactured.
A raid was then conducted on the factory, and a huge quantity of ephedrine and acteyle anhydride worth Rs 2,000 crores was recovered.
Ephedrine is used to manufacture methamphetamine-based party drugs, which have a huge market in the US and European nations.
The ephedrine seized was to be smuggled to Kenya, where Kulkarni and her husband Goswami - along with their aides - would manufacture the party drug and then smuggle it to the US.
WHERE IS MAMTA KULKARNI?
Goswami has already been arrested with his partners, including one Ghulam Hussein - a Pakistani drug lord.
They were extradited from Kenya to the US in an old drug smuggling case registered in the States.
Kulkarni then fled from Kenya, and reportedly went to the UAE - where she stayed for some time. She moved once again, and authorities are yet to zero in on her exact location.
