While speaking to ANI in the national capital on January 30, the DCP of South-East Delhi, Chinmoy Biswal, spoke on firing in Jamia area. He said, "At around 01:30 pm in the afternoon, we saw a man and our team were deployed there and before they could react he opened fired on one of the protestors. Police ran and overpowered him and simultaneously the injured student was also taken to Holy Family Hospital." "I met him (injured student) and also asked doctor about his health conditions. He has now been shifted to AIIMS trauma centre," DCP Biswal added. A man brandished a country-made pistol and opened fire, injuring a student protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on January 30. The firing took place despite heavy police presence in the area and the man was later overpowered by protesters. The students were heading from Jamia to Mahatma Gandhi's memorial Rajghat.
