Inequality gap on the rise since COVID pandemic? | India Development Debate

Oxfam in its annual report has found that Covid 19 has ended up widening the gap between the rich and poor even more. While Indian billionaires increased their wealth by 35% since March 2020, 24% of the country earned less than Rs 3000 a month. The additional wealth during Covid of the top 100 billionaires is enough to give 13.8 crore Indians more than Rs. 90,000 each! While Oxfam suggests an increase in wealth tax and an additional Covid tax on those with more than 10 lakh rupees of taxable income, ET Now's Tamanna Inamdar asks if that is a fair resolution.
