India's vaccine drive wanes with scarce supply; states struggles with shutters down for many centres

India is in the middle of the third phase of the vaccination drive for all adults. All those above the age of 18 are technically allowed and eligible to get their jabs. However most people between the age group of 18-44 are unable to book their slots as the priority has been shifter to the 45+ group and several states have suspended this particular phase due to lack and shortage of doses. The Centre has suggested that a 70-30 policy for available stocks should be implemented in terms of releasing jabs where 70% must be reserved for those waiting their second dose above the age of 45. While the urban India is suffering to find and book their slots online to get doses, rural India is left out facing a digital divide. The Centre on the other hand had unveiled a December 2021 deadline for the complete India vaccine drive.
