Indian-Origin Boy Rahul Doshi Becomes ‘Child Genius’ Winner in Britain

The Indian-origin contestant, Rahul Doshi who grabbed eyeballs for answering all 12 questions in a quiz show ‘Child Genius’ on British TV, Channel 4 has won the game. Rahul had made headlines for having an IQ of 162 which is higher than that of Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawkins. He is also a member of the prestigious Mensa club for his high IQ. In the show over a course of one week, twenty contestants aged between eight to 12 were tested among which Rahul has been declared the winner. Rahul won ‘Child Genius’ by beating his nine-year-old opponent Ronan 10-4 on Saturday.

He had become an overnight sensation after he answered all questions correctly. It was a question of 19th Century artists William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais is what made Rahul the winner of the show. In the final round, Rahul answered rightly to all question of his chosen subject – Edward Jenner’s medical innovation and methodology in 18th Century England. Other rounds also included questions maths, English, spelling, history and memory powers. PTI quoted Rahul who wants to be a financial adviser as saying, “The key is to block out everything else and remain calm. So just focus on your goal. Mine was to answer as many questions as I could correctly and that helped me stay calm and do quite well in the early stages.” While Rahul’s father, Minesh is an IT manager, his mother Komal is a pharmacist. They called their son’s achievement a “phenomenal achievement”. However, Minesh grabbed the internet’s fury for laughing at a contestant’s wrong answer. Talking about the show, Minesh had earlier said, “We are here to win.
