Indian Navy seeks placement opportunities for veteran sailorsin Qatar Navy Kochi, Nov 10 (PTI) The Indian Navy has taken measures toprovide placement opportunities for its veteran sailors fortheir second innings with friendly nations, Southern NavalCommand Chief of Staff Rear Admiral R J Nadkarni said onSunday.
A memorandum of understanding had been signed with theQatar Navy in this regard, he told the 11th Annual GeneralBody Meeting of the Veteran Sailors Forum's Kochi Charter atthe Naval Base here.
He further intimated that the Navy is also seekingsimilar employment opportunities with other friendly nations,a defence release said.
The Rear Admiral was quoted by it as saying that theKerala government was also considering job opportunities toex-servicemen in the coastal security set up of the state.
He assured the forum members that the southern commandwould stand by the motto Navy cares for its Veterans.
More than 200 veterans and veernaris (widows ofdefence personnel) of the Indian Navy attended the event.
Rear Admiral Nadkarni, who was the Chief Guest andPatron of the forum, paid rich tributes to the Naval veteransfor laying a strong foundation for the Indian Navy andhighlighted various facilities such as health care, sayingthese would greatly improve their well being. PTI TGBVS VS
