Indian eves win Women Twenty20 Asia Cup trouncing Pak team in final

Beijing, Oct 31(ANI): A disciplined bowling attack by Indian eves helped them secure a thumping 18 runs win over archrivals Pakistan in the final of the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup in Guangzhou, China.

Pakistan managed to make a total of 63 runs while chasing India's score of 81 runs before being bowled out with 5 balls remaining, the Express Tribune reports.

Pakistan had earlier won the toss and chose to field, with India ending the innings at 81 runs.

Punam Raut played a crucial knock of 25 in difficult conditions, while Nagarajan Niranjana picked up two wickets.

India captain Mitali Raj said: "So happy for the girls even though I'm disappointed not to have played because of my ankle. Winning this Asia Cup is a great achievement and what's been special is how our team has become like a family over the years, everyone contributes and plays for each other."

"The juniors came in and did well, it was good to expose them to international cricket and the junior teams, Thailand and Hong Kong, really bowled and fielded well and they can only improve the more they play the top teams," she added.

Earlier, Pakistan beat Bangladesh by six wickets in the second semi final of the Asia Cup, earning this spot in the final.

India was earlier declared the winner when rain disrupted the first semi-final. (ANI)
