The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the annual contracted player’s list for the men’s cricket team for the 2020-21 season. The duration of this contract ranges from October 2020 to September 2021. Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj, and Azar Patel are the newly contracted players on the list.

There a total of 4 grades- Grade A+, Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C. The players belonging to the Grade A+ will get Rs. 7 crore each. The Grade A players will get Rs. 5 crore each. Players in Grade B and Grade C will get Rs. 3 crore and Rs. 1 crore respectively. There are a total of 28 players on the elite list.

Here is the full list of the players in the annual retainer’s list:

Grade C (1 Crore)

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav did not play a lot of matches over the last year. After a big gap, he was inducted in the ODI series against England in March last month. He did not have a great bowling show and was hit for a lot of runs. He is part of Grade C and will get Rs. 1 crore.

Navdeep Saini

Navdeep Saini is another cricketer in Grade C and he will get Rs. 1 crore. He last played in the Test and ODI series against Australia. In 2 Test matches, Saini took 4 wickets. In the two ODIs he played, he picked 1 wicket. He was part of the T20I squad of India against England but did not play in any games.

Deepak Chahar

Right-arm Pacer Deepak Chahar is part of Grade C and he will be getting Rs. 1 crore. He last played in the T20I series against Australia in December 2020. He took 1 wicket in the 1st T20I but remained wicket-less in the next two games.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill impressed with his batting in the Test series against Australia in December-January 2020-21. He was inducted into the team as a replacement for Prithvi Shaw and hit two half-centuries during the series. He was also part of the Test series against England earlier this year. He scored a half-century in one game. He has been inducted in Grade C by BCCI and will get Rs. 1 crore.

Hanuma Vihari

Hanuma Vihari is also part of the Grade C. He was part of the Test series against Australia. He got injured in the 3rd Test but played an important role in saving the team from defeat in the game. As a part of Grade C, he will get Rs. 1 crore.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel is a new player in the BCCI’s contracted list. He made his Test debut against England this year and bagged the limelight with 27 wickets in 4 matches. He played a big role with Ravichandran Ashwin in leading the spin attack against England. He is part of the Grade C list and will get Rs. 1 crore.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer is also part of the Grade C in BCCI’s list. Iyer showed a great performance in the T20I series against England last month. He got injured during the 1st ODI against England and hurting his shoulder. Due to recovery, he has been also ruled out of IPL 2021.

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar impressed fans with his batting against Australia and England in the Test series. He scored an important 62 runs in the 4th Test against Australia. In the Test series against England, he scored two unbeaten half-centuries of 85 and 96 in two different Test matches. He is also part of Grade C in BCCI’s list and will get Rs. 1 crore.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal is part of the Grade C in BCCI’s list. He has been a crucial spinner for the Indian team. He was part of the team in the ODI and T20I series against England. He took 3 wickets in the three T20Is he played. He was also part of the T20I series against Australia in December 2020. He grabbed 4 wickets in three matches.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj is another new addition to the list. He is part of Grade C and will get Rs. 1 crore. He made his international Test debut in the Test series against Australia last year in December. He impressed with 13 wickets in three Test against Australia. Siraj was also part of two Test matches against England early this year and picked 3 wickets.

Grade B (3 Crores)

Wriddhiman Saha

Wridhiman Saha is part of the Grade B in BCCI’s list and will get Rs. 3 crore. He was part of the Test series against Australia but was replaced by Rishabh Pant due to injury. Saha did not get many opportunities later as his replacement Rishabh Pant was showed great form in the series against Australia and England.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav last played for India in the Test series against Australia in December last year. He was part of the first two matches but was replaced in the last two games. He took 3 wickets in the 1st Test and 1 wicket in the 2nd Test against Australia. Umesh Yadav is also part of the Grade B in BCCI’s list and will get Rs. 3 crore.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was out of the national team for a long time after he suffered an injury during IPL 2020 last year. He made his comeback to the team in the T20I and ODI series against England last month. He took 6 wickets in 3 ODI matches and 4 wickets in the 5 T20Is. He is also part of Grade B in BCCI’s contract.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur impressed with his bowling in the T20I and ODI series against England last month. He scalped 7 wickets in the three ODIs and 8 wickets in the 5 T20I matches. He truly justified his selection in the team in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. He is part of Grade B and will get Rs. 3 crore.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal is another player who is part of Grade B in the list and will get Rs. 3 crore. He last played for India in the Test series against Australia last year. He was part of the three matches in which he scored 80 runs. He is a popular option for selectors in Test matches.

Grade A (5 Crores)

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin became a star during the Test series against England early this year. He took 32 wickets in 4 Test matches against England along with a century in one of the games. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja was the last part of the Test series against Australia. He played two Tests and scored a fifty in one game. He also took 7 wickets in two Tests. He got injured in the 2nd Test and was ruled out of the series. He is also part of Grade A and will get Rs. 5 crore.

Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara is the permanent member of the Test squad for the Indian team. He played a great role in batting in India’s last Test series against England and Australia. He also got an IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2021. He is part of Grade A and will get Rs. 5 crore.

Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane has been a great Test batsman for India during the last year. He also impressed with his captainship in the Border-Gavaskar series last year as India defeated Australia 2-1. He also hit a century in the 2nd Test which India won. He is in the Grade A of BCCI contract and will get Rs. 5 crore.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan showed a great batting class in the ODI series against England last month. He scored 98 runs in the 1st ODI and 67 runs in the 3rd ODI. He is a crucial opener for India in the limited-overs along with Rohit Sharma. He is part of Grade A and will get Rs. 5 crore.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul faced a lot of criticisms for his poor show in T20Is against England. He was dropped from the 5th T20I after two ducks in the previous four games. However, he bounced back with a half-century in the 1st ODI and a century in the 2nd ODI against England. He is also part of Grade A and will get Rs. 5 crore.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami was out of the Indian team for a long time after he sustained a hand injury in the 1st Test against Australia last year. He returned to the field in IPL 2021 as a part of Punjab Kings. Shami is a crucial pacer for India in the national side. He is part of Grade A and will Rs. 5 crore.

Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma was part of the Test series against England early this year. He played all four matches and picked 6 wickets. Although he has less appearance in the limited-overs games for India, he is always called upon by selectors for Test matches. He is also part of Grade A in BCCI’s list.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant has been the most fabulous player for India during this year so far. Pant showed a great performance in the Test series against England and Australia. He also played brilliantly in two ODIs against England, scoring 77 and 78 run knocks. He is part of Grade A and will get Rs. 5 crore.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is another player in Grade A. He played a great role in the 2-1 T20I series win for India against Australia last year. Hardik Pandya is one player who is part of the Indian team in all three formats. He also smashed a crucial half-century (64) in the third ODI against England last month.

Grade A+ (7 Crores)

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is part of Grade A+, which is the top grade in BCCI’s contract. Bumrah will get Rs. 7 crores. Jasprit Bumrah is the most crucial pacer for the national team. He is one player who is part of the national team in all three formats. He was not part of the England ODI and T20I series due to personal reasons. However, he was part of the Test series against England. In two Tests, Bumrah picked 4 wickets.

Rohit Sharma

India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is also part of the Grade A+ in BCCI’s list. Sharma is an outstanding opener for the India team in all three formats. Due to his brilliant batting, he was part of all the recent series of India. His 161-run-knock against England in the 2nd Test early this year was very crucial for India’s victory in the match. He also managed a good opening partnership with Shikhar Dhawan in the ODI series against England last month.

Virat Kohli

Indian captain Virat Kohli is part of Grade A+ in the list of BCCI. Kohli has been a commendable batsman and skipper for the Indian team in all three formats. He played a leading role in the 3-2 T20I series victory against England last month. He was awarded player of the series for three 70 plus scores in the tournament. He led India to a series win against England in Tests, T20Is, and ODIs since the start of this year.
