Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna has been called up to the ODI side for the upcoming series against England.

The 25-year-old Karnataka pacer has been doing well of late in domestic cricket and has earned this berth.

He brings a lot of quality as India could give him a game and see what he brings.

Here we present his journey to the ODI squad.

FC matches: Krishna has been limited to nine FC matches for Karnataka

Injuries and team combinations have seen Krishna make just nine appearances in First-class cricket.

However, he has managed to claim 34 wickets at a healthy average of 20.26.

He has two four-wicket hauls and a fifer (5/49).

Interestingly, he had made his FC debut for Karnataka against Bangladesh A in 2015.

His last FC match was against Bengal in March 2020.

Fact: Krishna has an impressive List A career

Having made his List A debut in 2017, Krishna has dominated the scenes. In 48 matches, he has scalped an impressive 81 wickets at 23.07. He has two five-wicket hauls with a best of 6/33, besides claiming four four-wicket hauls as well.

Competition: Krishna has enjoyed his time in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

Making his List A debut in the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Krishna hit the right chords.

He got the most wickets for Karnataka that season (13) at 16.61.

He topped the team table again in 2017-18 with 17 wickets at 16.52.

In the recently concluded 2020-21 edition of the competition, Krishna claimed 14 scalps at 22.21 with a best of 4/17.

IPL: How has Krishna fared for KKR in the IPL?

Krishna was picked up by the Knight Riders in 2018.

He made his IPL debut that same season and picked up ten wickets.

However, he had a high economy rate (9.28).

A forgettable IPL 2019 saw him take just four wickets at an even higher economy rate of 9.34.

He claimed four wickets from six games last season.

The economy rate went high (9.37).

Fact: Krishna hasn't quite fired in T20 cricket

Krishna has taken 33 wickets in T20s, having played 40 games. His average is on the higher side (35.84). He has an economy rate of 8.49 and a best of 4/30. 18 wickets have come in the IPL.

Team India: One of the options in a big pool of pacers

With Mohammed Shami recovering from injury and Jasprit Bumrah being on an extended leave, India are experimenting with pacers.

Besides Krishna, the likes of T Natarajan, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the other pacers included,

India's pool of pacers have increased with Deepak Chahar and Navdeep Saini too in the mix.

Krishna needs to keep performing consistently.

Fact: Krishna is a sound option in the near future

Krishna has come a long way and at 25, he could be guided well for the near future. He has time and is one of India's options in the coming years. He has good pace and movement. Consistency is what he will seek now.
