On 25th February 2021 the DGMOs of India and Pakistan- the two nuclear armed neighbours and adversaries - had announced a decision to ceasefire along the Line of Control. But who was behind this decision?

As the ceasefire was announced within days of the India & China’s disengagement on the LAC at Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh, it had led to speculation over what had led India to stabilize relations with both its hostile neighbours simultaneously.

The ceasefire announcement comes after Pakistan has found little support internationally in its efforts to fight for Kashmiri state hood, following the Abrogation of Article 370 and the events thereafter. Will the Pakistan army now craft a new policy against India and abandon terrorism ? Or is it only to evade the tough scrutiny and economic sanctions imposed by the Financial Action Task Force (FAFT) that has extended its grey listing till June this year.
