India No. 3 on the T20 table

Calcutta: India were placed at No. 3 position while Suresh Raina was the only batsman in the top-10 in the latest ICC Twenty20 rankings, released by the ICC on Tuesday. India have 120 points to top-ranked Sri Lanka's 127 and second placed West Indies' 122. In the batting list, Raina slipped a place to number five with 741 points, as so was Virat Kohli who was ranked 11th with 686 points. Gautam Gambhir was placed 18th Yuvraj Singh was positioned 19th in the list headed by New Zealand's Brendon McCullum and followed by Australian Shane Watson and West Indies' Chris Gayle. None of the Indian bowlers feature in the top-20.

Rajkot: Mohammed Azharuddin Tuesday backed the selectors' decision to drop Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh from the team for the fourth and final Test against England but hoped the two will soon stage a comeback in the squad as they are good players. "The selectors' decision to keep non-performing players out of the team is proper," the former skipper said.

Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa plans to appoint a black selector soon as part of its efforts to transform the sport in the country, acting Board chief executive Jacques Faul has said. "A black African selector is needed to help address representation on all levels, which includes management," Faul said.

New Delhi: Dipika Pallikal, whose phenomenal on-court success helped her become the first Indian to break into the top-10 of the squash rankings, has now set her sights on joining the elite club of the world's top five by next year.

"My next target is top five. I broke into the top 10 club this month and, hopefully by next year, I can break into the top five. That's my immediate target," Dipika said.

Calcutta: Nehru Cup champions India have been clubbed alongside hosts Myanmar, Chinese Taipei and Guam in Group A of the AFC Challenge Cup 2014 qualifiers to be played in Myanmar.

India will play their matches on March 2, 4 and 6 next year, according to draw which took place at the AFC Headquarters in Kula Lumpur on Tuesday.
