Cairo, Apr 28 (PTI) After six weeks of festivities, the mega cultural festival, India by the Nile, came to a close with a performance by Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust at the Cairo Opera House.
The show by prominent Indian puppeteer Dadi Pudumjee and his troupe was based on the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi.
“We have come to the end of India by the Nile with a very moving piece on Gandhi. In today’s time, when we have so much tension all around us, we should remember Gandhi’s message of truth,” India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Sanjay Bhattacharyya, told PTI.
Pudumjee expressed his happiness about performing in Egypt for first time.
“It was fabulous. The audience’s reaction was very good,” Pudumjee said.
Earlier on Thursday, Pudumjee and his troupe did a workshop at the Children’s Cancer Hospital.
Bhattacharyya also announced that the Indian Embassy will organise the Tagore festival from May 8 to 12.
