ICMR issues advisory on Convalescent Plasma Therapy, says avoid indiscriminate use

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on 18 November reiterated its stance that Convalescent Plasma Therapy (CPT) didn't reduce mortality in COVID cases, advising states to refrain from its indiscriminate use. The advisory comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting to assess the COVID situation in the state of Delhi in which it was decided that the Health Ministry will issue a standard protocol for plasma therapy.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) advisory says that a potential recipient of CPT should be in an early stage of COVID-19 and the therapy should be administered between 3-7 days from onset of symptoms, but no later than 10 days.
