After the successful launch of Grand i10 facelift, Hyundai India seems to be very much positive with its market approach as it is gearing up to launch the new Hyundai Xcent 2017 facelift in India. Scheduled to launch on April 20, Hyundai will be rolling out the latest iteration of its compact sedan which will take on Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor and the likes. After introducing the facelift version of Grand i10, the Korean manufacturer will be introducing updated Xcent sedan which will carry cosmetic updates as well as mechanical upgrades. Under the hood, the sub-compact sedan will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. However, the 1.1-litre diesel unit will be replaced by a 1.2-litre U2 CRDi oil burner which can produce 74bhp and 190Nm of power figures while the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine will remain untouched which will be tuned to produce 82bhp of power and 114Nm of peak torque. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while 4-speed automatic unit will be offered as an option. The updates will continue on the inside as well, wherein the sub-compact sedan will be offered with refreshed dashboard, touch screen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Google Android Auto compatibility and much more. Also See: New Hyundai Verna 2017 India launch likely in August
As far as the prices are concerned, the company will be looking to launch the 2017 Hyundai Xcent with an aggressive price tag considering the fact that rivals such as Tata Tigor and Maruti Swift Dzire are offered with a competitive pricing. So, we expected that the facelifted Xcent sedan will be offered in the range of INR 5.5 lakh – INR 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). As Tata Tigor and Maruti Swift Dzire will be looking to chip in the competitive sub-compact space, Hyundai will also focus to capitalize with this new offering. As the fact that on an average about 25,000 to 28,000 cars are retailed in the sub-compact sedan space, Maruti Swift Dzire dominates the segment with more than 60 percent market share. Other popular models offered in this space are Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Amaze and Tata Zest which are amongst the top-selling cars in this segment.
