After rolling out the updated Hyundai Xcent compact sedan in the market, the South Korean automaker is betting big on its forthcoming 2017 Hyundai Verna. Expected to launch in India by mid of this year, the new generation Verna 2017 has been spotted while testing in India couple of times. Yet again, Mr Car India reader has managed to get hold of some clear spy shots of the sedan which was spotted testing in Gurgaon. As the sedan is based on Hyundai’s popular Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 philosophy, the next generation Verna will sport design language in-line with new Elantra and Tucson. The new Hyundai Verna is expected to sport cosmetic updates with no changes on the mechanical front. As seen in the spy shots, the test mule is camouflaged minimally at the front, rear and inside as well. As seen in the spy shots, the centre console, door panels, steering wheels and dashboard were camouflaged to conceal the details. The next generation Verna will sport wider & cascading grille, swept-back headlamps with projector unit at the front proffering the sedan with an appealing look. While, the side profile of the sedan exhibits a sloping roof line along with new pair of 5-spoke alloy wheels that proffers the sedan with a uniform look. The rear end gets a sleek look with bigger wrap-around taillights and number plate housing has been shifted to the centre of the boot lid. Coming to the powerhouse options, it is speculated that the company will be employing same set of engine options. However, there is no official statement regarding the same. To be priced in the range of INR 9 lakh to INR 14 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Hyundai Verna will compete against the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
