Hyundai recently launched their all-new Santro in the Indian market. The all-new 2018 Hyundai Santro comes with an introductory pricing of Rs 3.89 lakh for the base variant, with the top-spec Asta priced at Rs 5.45 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom (India).
However, pre-bookings for the all-new Santro started from the 10th of October 2018. Company officials stated that over the 13 days leading to the launch, the Santro has already garnered 23,500 bookings. This translates to three months of production in the Hyundai plant.
Officials also stated that 30 per cent of all bookings of the new Santro is towards the AMT version. The AMT transmission on the Santro is available only on the mid-spec Magna and Sportz trims.
Hence, prospective customers planning to buy the all-new Santro will now have to wait three months for the delivery of their cars. Given the popularity of the car in the market, the waiting period is expected to increase further.
The all-new Hyundai Santro comes in five trims: DLite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. All variants of the Santro will be powered by the same 1.1-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 68bhp and 99Nm of torque. The engine will further be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard across all variants.
Hyundai also offers a CNG version of the Santro, however, this will be available on the Magna and Sportz trims only. The CNG version will be available with only the manual gearbox.
The all-new 2018 Hyundai Santro comes with a number of features and equipment, inline with all other product offerings from the Korean brand. The Santro now features a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link.
Other features on the 2018 Santro: electrically-adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicator, rear AC vents (first-in-segment), ABS with EBD, engine immobiliser, driver and passenger airbags, reverse parking sensors, speed sensing auto door lock/unlock, central locking and rear defogger.
The all-new Hyundai Santro is also available in a range of seven colours: Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Stardust Grey, Imperial Beige, Marina Blue, Fiery Red and Diana Green.
Thoughts On The all-new Hyundai Santro
The Hyundai Santro is one of the most popular names in the Indian market. The previous-generation Santro stopped production in 2015 and even received criticism over it by customers. However, the all-new Santro has received a huge following already in the market. The Santro takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Datsun GO and the Renault Kwid in the Indian market.
