Hyundai QXi to be revealed in India on April 17, 2019
Hyundai's upcoming compact SUV, codenamed QXi, is expected to be launched in India in May 2019. It has been widely reported that the South Korean automajor will showcase QXi first at the New York auto show on April 17, 2019. Now there are claims that the company will showcase the upcoming compact SUV on the same day in India also.
According to a report by Autocar India, Hyundai QXi will be revealed in India on April 17, simultaneously to its showcase at the New York show. Hyundai has already teased QXi with a video. Although the upcoming compact SUV was completely camouflaged, an idea can be made out about its design. It is expected to be based on the same platform that underpins Hyundai Creta. Split headlamps and a bold grille will give the upcoming compact SUV a premium feel. Expectations are that Hyundai QXi will get diamond-cut alloy wheels. Also, there will be LED tail lamps.
Hyundai QXi is expected to get plush interiors with an infotainment system that might be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Premium seat upholstery is expected as well. The upcoming SUV will also get a deal maker in the form of a sunroof.
In India, Hyundai QXi will be available in three engine options -- a 1.4-litre petrol motor, a 1.4-litre diesel mill and a 1.0-litre petrol engine. There are expectations that apart from the manual gearbox, the company will also provide an automatic transmission in the upcoming SUV.
Expectations are that Hyundai QXi will get safety features like ABS with EBD, immobilizer, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, pretentioner seat belts for the driver and passenger, reverse parking sensors, speed sensing auto door lock, impact sensing auto door unlock, cornering lamp and ISOFIX. These features are available in Hyundai Creta as well.
So far as prices are concerned, expectations are that Hyundai QXi will be priced in India between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will challenge the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300.
