Hyderabad: Woman tells family she's going to buy milk, commits suicide, says police

The 40-year-old woman told her family that she was going to buy milk but went to a stone quarry and committed suicide.

A video of a woman committing suicide has surfaced the social media and has shocked the denizens. The incident has been reported from Hyderabad, where a woman in her 40s, identified as Saritha jumped into a water body and died.

Saritha committed suicide at a stone quarry in Gazalrama on Thursday, an area which comes under Jagadgiri Gutta police station limit.

In the video, Saritha was seen approaching the water body as the locals recording the video panicked. They tried stopping her but failed as Saritha jumped into the deep water pit and died.

According to P Srinivas, Circle inspector, the deceased was a mother of a 10-year-old son studying in Class 4 and was a native of Shapur Nagar, Jeedimetla. Saritha's husband is a businessman and prima facie, it looks like she took this extreme step due to a family dispute.

"On Thursday, at around 9:30 AM, she told the family that she is going to bring milk but, later went to the stone quarry area and committed suicide. We have registered a case under Section 174 CRPC and investigating the case" said Circle inspector, P Srinivas.

But, this is not the first time someone has committed suicide at this location. Similar cases of people committing suicides at this quarry have cropped up in the past too. As per reports, as of now, four people have committed suicide in the last few months at the same location.
