The deadly black fungus or mucormycosis has affected close to 5,500 people across the country even as many states are facing an acute shortage of liposomal amphotericin B, the anti-fungal drug that is required to treat the disease, which is increasingly being seen in Covid-19 patients. 11 people have been detected with Black Fungus. They have been reported from GIMS hospital in Kalburgi district. A total of 18 patients have now reported to this hospital.
