Honeypreet Insan to be Produced in Panchkula Court Today, Security Beefed Up

New Delhi, Oct 23: Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of convicted Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is likely to be produced in Haryana’s Panchkula court on Monday.

Earlier on October 13, a Panchkula court sent Honeypreet Insan and her accomplice Sukhdeep Kaur to judicial custody till October 23. Addressing a press conference Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla had said that Haryana Police has found evidence of Honeypreet Insan’s hand in incidents of violence in Panchkula,  that broke out on August 25,  after self-styled godman Ram Rahim was declared guilty of rape by a special CBI court.


After a hunt of over a month by the police,  Honeypreet was arrested on October 3 from Zirakpur-Patiala road near Chandigarh along with another woman. She has been charged with sedition by the Haryana government.

A few days back, it was reported that  Honeypreet, who is lodged in cell number 11, broke down in Ambala’s Central Jail on the eve of Diwali, after seeing her parents who came to meet her. She received candles and sweets from her family and talk to them via intercom. Reportedly, their meeting lasted for 35 minutes.

Honeypreet alias Priyanka Taneja topped the list of 43 people wanted by the Haryana Police in connection with the Panchkula violence that left 41 people dead and several injured. She had accompanied Ram Rahim from the sect headquarters at Sirsa to a special CBI court in Panchkula on August 25. After the Dera chief’s conviction on that day, she also accompanied him in a chopper when he was flown to Rohtak to be lodged in a jail.
