Hollyoaks has confirmed that Kyle Kelly's final episode will air next week.

Show bosses have announced that Adam Rickitt has left the Channel 4 soap, which will be exploring the topic of male suicide in Kyle's exit storyline.

In Tuesday's E4 first look episode (June 2), Kyle begs his partner Nancy for one last chance to save their relationship.

Kyle already regrets choosing drugs over Nancy (Jessica Fox) when she gave him an ultimatum over their future last week.

Nancy tells Kyle that sometimes she thinks the family would be better off without him.

However, in scenes which air next Monday (June 8), Kyle's final episode sees him treat Nancy to a perfect day as they try to get back on better terms again.

Kyle treats Nancy to a romantic meal at The Hutch. However, once Nancy has gone, he gets out Oscar's family tree and closes all of the blinds, with a devastating plan in mind.

Kyle's death will not be shown on screen, but the aftermath sees his friends and family left distraught by the news that he has taken his own life after his long-running struggles with depression.

Hollyoaks bosses have worked with the Samaritans, Mind and local charity James' Place while creating the storyline.

Adam Rickitt recently said: "When I first heard about the storyline, I was excited as an actor to be able to portray such a dramatic journey, and [proud] that the team had entrusted me to do it. There was also a sense of personal fear.

"Like all too many, I had to walk a similar path in my lifetime and the idea of revisiting that, even in the world of fiction, was slightly daunting.

"In truth, though, it became an incredibly empowering experience. The sensitivity and heart that the writers put into the story really shone through, and at a time like now, more than ever, I think we need to be highlighting just this sort of issue.

"As sad as I am to say goodbye to Kyle, I have loved being a part of Hollyoaks. It's been a fantastic show to work on. To be able to leave telling a story that is so important and so challenging is more than I could ever have asked for, and like me, I hope viewers will find strength in its telling."

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, currently air on Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays at 7pm on E4.
