Hemant Karkare treated me badly, died of his karma: Sadhvi Pragya on 26/11 hero
Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, on Friday said that former Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare, who died in action during the Mumbai terror attacks, had treated her "very badly". She also said that Hemant Karkare died because of his karma.
"Hemant Karkare falsely implicated me [in Malegaon blasts] and treated me very badly. I told him your entire dynasty will be erased. He died of his karma," Sadhvi Pragya said.
Six people were killed and over 100 injured in a bomb blast at Malegaon on September 29, 2008. Hemant Karkare, who was probing the Malegaon blasts, tracked down the owner of the motorcycle which was used in the attacks. The motorcycle belonged to Sadhvi Pragya Thakur.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and others in the case, alleging they were part of a Hindu extremist group which carried out the blast. In May 2016, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) gave a clean chit to Sadhvi Pragya.
Sadhvi Pragya, who is out on bail, has been fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. She has been pitted against Congress leader Digvijaya Singh. Sadhvi Pragya Thakur will file her nomination from the seat on April 23.
Congress linked Hindus with terror: Sadhvi Pragya
Sadhvi Pragya Thakur on Thursday accused the Congress of being anti-Hindu and said the party harassed a woman by linking Hindus with terrorism.
Addressing a press conference in Bhopal, Thakur said: "The Congress has linked Hindus with terrorism, called them terrorists and harassed a woman. The names that I was given and the way I was tortured... How do I believe this won't be repeated with other women in the future?"
Recount her torture in jail, she became emotional and broke into tears. The Malegaon blast accused also said she would be beaten up throughout the night and denied food for days. "I was made to survive on just water for several days."
Meanwhile, a Malegaon blast victim's father has moved the special NIA court seeking barring of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur from contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
The petition has been filed by Nisar Sayeed who lost his son in the 2008 Malegaon blast. He appealed that Sadhvi Pragya Thakur be asked to attend court proceedings in Mumbai and restricted from contesting the Lok Sabha election.
If Sadhvi Pragya Thakur was "healthy enough to fight elections in the crippling summer heat", then she has misled the court, Sayeed alleged.
