Flight operations were disrupted at the Kolkata Airport as heavy rainfall battered the city on Friday. According to news agency ANI, the arrival of four flights and the departure of more than five flights at the Kolkata Airport have been put on hold.
The city has been receiving heavy to moderate rainfall from the last three to four days. On Friday, Kolkata received very heavy rainfall between 3 to 5 pm.

Waterlogging and traffic snarls have been reported from many parts of the city. According to the reports, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has set up control rooms to oversee the situation in the city. A rain alert has been sounded in Kolkata for the next 48 hours.
Last week, the eastern metropolis had received 50 mm rainfall in just 24 hours owing to a low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal, the Met department said.
Though there was less number of public transports, some parts of the metropolis witnessed traffic snarls causing inconvenience to commuters.
