Eighteen years ago, LeAnn Rimes scored yet another hit to add to her string of successful, memorable songs with the theme to chick flick Coyote Ugly — “Can’t Fight the Moonlight.”

Composed by renowned songwriter Diane Warren, the tune topped the charts in eight countries, making it a worldwide phenomenon. Now Rimes is releasing the song in a reimagined form, produced by herself and longtime collaborator Darrell Brown.

Yahoo Entertainment is excited to debut the first listen to the song, which will appear on her new EP Re-Imagined, out June 20. The project, which includes reworked versions of her other classics (including “Blue” and “How Do I Live” ) is Rimes’s thank-you to her fans for their continuous support over the course of her nearly 25 years in the industry.

“My crazy-talented friend Diane Warren tells me ‘Can’t Fight the Moonlight’ is the most successful song — so far — of her entire writing career,” Rimes enthuses about the track. “Which is absolutely wild to ponder when you consider all the massive hits that woman has written, and all the incredible artists that have recorded her music.

“This reimagined rendition, like the others we have released, came about when preparing for my Remnants tour,” she adds. “My band and I fell into a natural groove with a retro, funk arrangement. Onstage, it’s hands down the most fun song to perform. It seemed only fitting to reimagine the live performance for you all to get the full, funked-out, high-vibe feels we experienced every night when we perform.”
