HC grants bail to Pinki Pramanik

KOLKATA: Pinki Pramanik, the Asian Games gold medalist who has been accused of raping her partner, was on Tuesday granted bail by the West Bengal High Court after 25 days in police custody.

The court said that her custody is not required as the gender tests have been conducted.

Pinki’s partner, Anamika, fainted in the court upon hearing the verdict, television reports said.

The chromosomal test report to establish whether Pinki is a male or a female was submitted to the court on Tuesday. The test was necessitated after Pinki was accused of rape.
