Swati Maliwal, Chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India and the Supreme Court Judges asking for them to take cognisance off the Hathras gangrape.
Swati goes on to explain the brutality of the entire case. It is to be noted that the girl was merely 19 years old and was not only brutally gangraped but was also extremely injured. Her spine was broken and the girl’s tongue was bitten off. Police’s inaction in registering the FIR and taking her to a better medical facility comes across as nothing but cruel.
Moreover, the girl’s body was hastily cremated at night, something that is against the Hindu laws, without making her parents a party to it, making it the last nail in the coffin.
