Haryanvi Singer Harshita Dahiya Posted Videos On Facebook About Receiving Threatening Calls Before Being Killed
Haryanvi singer and dancer, Harshita Dahiya was shot dead by unknown assailants on Tuesday after forcefully stopping the car she was traveling in. The 22-year-old was killed on her way back home after a performance at a function.
However, earlier she had posted a video on social media about receiving death threats. It is not clear if a police complaint was filed. In the video, she says that she will expose the people who have been threatening her and also reveal their identity and phone number.
Dahiya was shot at around 4 pm at Chamrara village in Haryana’s Panipat district. The unknown assailants overtook her car and fired five to six shots before fleeing away.
However, the crime seems to be a planned one as Dahiya had posted a video on social media about life threats she has been receiving. In the video, Dahiya who is a resident of Narela in Delhi says that she was unafraid.
He said two unidentified youths asked the two assistants and the driver of the singer to come out of the car and later shot her in the vehicle. Harshita died on the spot after she the bullet hit her forehead and neck, police said. The unidentified youths fled the scene immediately after killing her. According to The Indian Express, Panipat SP Rahul Sharma said that they suspected the role of a gangster named Dinesh in the crime. A murder case has been registered and investigations are underway.
Here is one of the videos posted by Harshita:
Panipat DSP Desh Raj said, “When she was returning, a black car overtook her vehicle near Chamrara and forced it to stop.” During the incident, she was accompanied by a male singer, her assistant, and driver.
Talking about the suspected gangster who is currently lodged in Tihar jail, Sharma said, “He is the brother-in-law of Female folk singer shot dead in Panipat the victim. Earlier, she had accused him of raping her. He is also accused of her mother’s murder. Harshita was a witness in her mother’s murder case. But we are not ruling out other theories also.”
