Haryana to import medicines as black fungus scare rises; sends application to Centre

The latest reports state that the Haryana government had sent an application to the central government seeking allowance to import medicines used to treat mucormycosis, including amphotericin B. Several states facing black fungal cases in patients post covid are facing a dire shortage of this medicine, which is why the Haryana government has the initiative to scout the globe as well. The black fungus is spreading rapidly across India, with more than 7,000 cases and rising. Certain myths that are being spread about mucormycosis are not true. Some of those myths include that it is contagious, it’s spread by oxygenation, humidifier, water, cow dung boosts immunity, drugs like voriconazole and fluconazole are effective against muracoles. Doctors bust those myths and guide us with steps to go about if we see any symptoms.
