Listen, if you weren't convinced before, you will be now. There's change in the air.
Scrolling through Instagram you'll notice that filters - from face-smoothers to surgery-replicating face morphers - are becoming less popular. Far less popular.
Swathes of celebrities have been posting makeup free selfies for years now - we've seen the gorgeously glowing bare faces of everyone from Lady Gaga to Jlo, Ashanti to Victoria Beckham and beyond.
But a new trend emerging seems to be the ditching of filters, rather than makeup. Earlier this month Lizzo took to Stories to drop the filter and zoom in on her makeup - seemingly deliberately - showcasing her natural, real skin texture. And this week, Kylie Jenner also shared a shot of herself, sans filter.
Hailey Bieber also joined a string of celebrities confirming my low-key hunch that heavy-handed Instagram filters are...kinda dying out, leaving room for snaps showcasing real skin texture - pores, pimples and all.
Hailey has shared her own no makeup snaps in the past, and has been open about her own skincare struggles, and shared a tonne of hacks, from bathing in seawater to refining the perfect skincare regime. She's also shared stories about helping husband Justin Bieber through his own acne journey.
In her latest post (a golden hour selfie, no less) Hailey's real skin is clearly visible - and it's so lovely to remember that even models with all the resources in the world have pores and natural texture.
Who's next to join the real skin revolution, as i'm officially dubbing it?
