Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh earns Rs 20 per day for growing vegetables in jail

According to jail sources Gurmeet Ram Rahim has so far harvested 1.5 quintals of potatoes besides aloe vera, tomatoes, bottle gourd and ridge gourd.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been given nearly 1000 yards of Rohtak jail field to cultivate vegetables after he was sentenced for 20 years in jail.

According to jail sources Gurmeet Ram Rahim has so far harvested 1.5 quintals of potatoes besides aloe vera, tomatoes, bottle gourd and ridge gourd. He works as an unskilled labourer and gets Rs 20 per day as daily wage for working for two hours in the fields.

Gurmeet Singh is unable access the money he has earned as there is no provision to pay the wages in cash. The wages earned by the jail inmates are released through online banking and all the banks of Gurmeet Singh have been seized on the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Sources also said that Gurmeet Singh had also requested the jail authorities to allow him to deliver spiritual discourses to the jail inmates however, his request was turned down by the jail minister Krishan Lal Panwar.

Gurmeet Singh has been lodged in a special barrack but no VIP treatment is being given to him. He is leading the life of a common prisoner and the vegetables grown by him are being cooked in the jail mess.

Sources said Gurmeet Ram Rahim's beard has turned grey and has lost more than six kilograms of weight. His health has improved after he started toiling in the jail fields.

Honeypreet isolates herself in jail

Gurmeet Ram Rahim's closest aide Honeypreet, who is under trial and currently lodged in Ambala Central jail, is seen wearing different designer suits every time she appears in the court. She perhaps is unable to colour her hair which have now have turned grey.

Honeypreet has isolated herself in jail as she never joins fellows under trial for evening prayers.

Honeypreet had moved a bail application in Panchkula district and sessions court recently however, it was turned down as she had been named as the main conspirator in the police chargesheet.

She is likely to move the Punjab and Haryana High Court to seek bail which has already been granted to more than a dozen co-accused Dera goons as police failed to prove sedition charges against them.

Honeypreet had told the court that she was with Gurmeet Ram when the violence took place on August 25, 2017 and had denied her role in the conspiracy.
