Gujarat's COVID-19 case count rises by 1,070, death toll by 6

(Eds: Adding details) Ahmedabad, Nov 15 (PTI) Gujarat reported 1,070 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, taking its infection count to 1,88,310, the state health department said.

As the virus claimed six lives during the day, including three in Ahmedabad and one fatality each in Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara, the cumulative death toll mounted to 3,803, it said.

The state's recovery rate improved slightly on Sunday to 91.30 per cent as 1,001 patients were discharged during the day, taking the number of recoveries to 1,71,932, the department said in its statement.

As many as 49,842 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, due to which the number of samples tested till now rose to 68,37,282.

The state now has 12,575 active cases.

At 219, Ahmedabad reported the highest number of cases in the state in the day, followed by Surat with 187 cases, the department said.

Rajkot added 150 new cases, while Vadodara added 140 patients to its tally.

Among other districts, Mehsana reported 59 new cases, Gandhinagar 51, Patan 31, Jamnagar 26, Banaskantha 24, Surendranagar 19, Kheda and Kutch 18 each, Anand 15, Junagadh 13, Bharuch 12, etc.

In the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli,the total number of cases rose to 3,263, while the count of recoveries stood at 3,242, officials said.
