(Eds: Adds details) Ahmedabad, Sep 21 (PTI) Gujarat's tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 1,24,767 on Monday with 1,430 more persons testing positive for the infection, while over 1,300 patients were discharged following recovery, the state health department said.
With the death of 17 more patients, the fatalities increased to 3,339, it said.
At the same time, 1,316 patients were discharged, taking the total number of recoveredcases in the state to 1,05,091, the department said in a release.
Gujarat has reported a recovery rate of 84.23 per cent, it said.
Surat district reported the highest number of 290 new cases followed by Ahmedabad at 177.
Three other districts also reported over 100 new cases - Rajkot 143, Vadodara 137 and Jamnagar 123.
Among other districts, Mehsana reported 60 new cases, Banaskantha 52, Gandhinagar 47, Bhavnagar 38, Junagadh 37, Amreli 32, Morbi 29, Panchmahal 28, Kutch and Surendranagar 27 each, Patan 20, Sabarkantha 16, Gir Somnath 15, Mahisagar 14, Bharuch and Botad 13 each, Anand, Dahod and Narmada 12 each, Kheda 10, among others.
Apart from fresh cases, Surat also topped among the districts in terms of new fatalities, accounting for six deaths out of the total 17 reported in the state in the last 24 hours.
Vadodara reported four deaths, Ahmedabad three, Bhavnagar two, and Gir Somnath and Rajkot one each, the release said.
The state now has 16,337 active cases with 89 patients kept on ventilators, the department said.
As many as 61,897 tests were conducted for coronavirus in the state in the last 24 hours at a rate of 952.26 tests per day per million population, the department said.
With this, the total number of samples tested so far rose to 38,62,366.
