Gujarat records 1,340 COVID-19 cases, 1,113 recoveries; 7 die

(Eds: Adds details) Ahmedabad, Nov 19 (PTI) Gujarat registered 1,340 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 1,92,982 on Thursday, while more than 1,100 patients recovered from the infection, the state Health Department said.

The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 3,830 as seven more patients succumbed to the infection during the same period, said a release by the Health Department.

Also, 1,113 patients recovered during the day and discharged from hospitals, it said.

With this, the number of recoveries increased to 1,76,475, the release said.

Among the fresh fatalities, three patients died in Ahmedabad, two in Surat and one each in Gandhinagar and Vadodara in the last 24 hours, it said.

As many as 246 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Ahmedabad followed by 239 in Surat, 149 in Vadodara, 137 in Rajkot, 80 in Gandhinagar, 53 in Mehsana and 52 in Banaskantha, among other districts.

On positive front, Gujarat's recovery rate improved to 91.45 per cent, the release said.

Over 54,900 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the test tally to over 70.33 lakh.

Two new cases of coronavirus emerged during the day in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

Of the total 3,279 persons found positive for coronavirus in the UT till now, two have died, 3,246 recovered, while 31 patients are under treatment, said a release by the UT administration.
