(Eds: Adds details) Ahmedabad, Oct 5 (PTI) The coronavirus tally in Gujarat rose to 1,44,027 with the addition of 1,327 new cases on Monday, while more than 1,400 patients were discharged following recovery, the state health department said.
The death toll increased to 3,512 with 13 more patients succumbing to the viral infection, it said.
At the same time, 1,405 COVID-19 patients were discharged on Monday, taking the number of recovered cases to 1,23,770, the health department said.
The state has achieved a recovery rate of 85.94 per cent, the department said in a release here.
Surat reported 276 new cases, the highest for a district in Gujarat, followed by Ahmedabad (187). Two other districts which reported over 100 new cases are Rajkot (155) and Vadodara (124), the release said.
Among other districts, Jamnagar reported90 cases, Patan 48, Mehsana 43, Gandhinagar 39, Banaskantha 34, Bhavnagar 32, Junagadh 31, Amreli 30, Kutch 27, Morbi 22, Panchmahal 20, Surendranagar 19, Bharuch and Mahisagar 16 each, Gir Somnath 15, Anand, Dahod, Narmada, Porbandar and Sabarkantha 11 each, among others, it said.
Surat also reported the highest number of five deaths in the last 24 hours. Ahmedabad reported three fatalities, Vadodara two, Bhavnagar, Mahisagar and Rajkot one each, said the release.
The number of active cases in the state now stood at 16,745, with 94 patients on ventilator support, it said.
A total of 57,513 tests were conducted in the state for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, at a rate of 884.82 tests per day per million population, pushing the number of samples tested so far to 47,02,776, the release said.
