(Eds: Adds details) Ahmedabad, Aug 31 (PTI) Gujarat's COVID-19 tally on Monday rose to 96,435 with the addition of 1,280 new cases, while 14 more patients succumbed to the infection, the state health department said.
With 14 fatalities, the death toll rose to 3,022, it said.
At the same time, 1,025 patients were discharged, raising the number of recovered cases in the state to 77,782, the department said in a release.
With this, the state has achieved a recovery rate of 80.66 per cent, it said.
Surat reported the highest number of 257 new cases in the state, followed by Ahmedabad at 173,Vadodara 128, Rajkot 118 and Jamnagar 114.
Among other districts, Bhavnagar reported 40 new cases, Panchmahal 39, Gandhinagar 36, Amreli 30, Mehsana 29, Morbi 28, Patan 25, Surendranagar 21, Anand, Bharuch and Kutch 20 each, Banaskantha 18, Gir Somnath 14, Dahod and Kheda 13 each, among others, the department said.
Out of the 14 fatalities, three each were reported in Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot, two in Bhavnagar, and one each in Gandhinagar, Jamnagar and Vadodara, it said.
As many as 66,363 samples were tested in a single day, achieving a rate of 1,020.96 tests per day per million population, the department said.
A total 23,31,836 samples have been tested so far in the state, the department said.
There are now 15,631 active cases in Gujarat, of which the condition of 79 patients is critical,while 15,552 are stable, the department said.
