Govt Vs Social Media: Cong leader Jairam Ramesh green flagged the 'Traceability' clause last year

Facebook-owned WhatsApp had filed a case in the Delhi High Court against the Central government, asking to hinder the new IT laws that come into effect now. The new rules claim "significant social media intermediaries" like WhatsApp to "trace" the source of selective messages sent on the platform. Congress has supported the social media giants against the government but now government sources are citing a report prepared by the Congress senior leader and MP, Jairam Ramesh with other members of the panel and had approved the now controversial 'Traceability' clause in their report.
